
The latest data from MPF Ratings shows the MPF system’s year-to-date return kept climbing while total assets reached a historic high. The MPFR All Fund Performance Index returned 3.56% in September and 6.41% in the third quarter, bringing the year-to-date gain to 15.83% — the best nine-month performance since 2009.
Buoyed by record investment gains, total MPF assets surpassed HK$1.53 trillion for the first time, a historic high. As of September, the system had about 4.79 million members.
In absolute terms, September’s investment gain was HK$52.5 billion (about HK$10,942 per member); the third quarter added HK$91.8 billion (HK$19,150 per member); and the year-to-date gain reached HK$207 billion (HK$43,225 per member) — a record annual gain.
Lifted by equities, MPF’s year-to-date return is exceptionally strong. Members can review their account performance on the eMPF Platform and revisit their allocation in line with their risk tolerance and retirement goals.
