What new MPF scheme did HSBC launch in 2011?

In February 2011, HSBC announced ValueChoice, a new MPF scheme due in Q1 2011 built around index-tracking collective investment schemes (ITCIS) with management fees of 0.79%–0.99%. At the same time it cut fees on three constituent funds under its SimpleChoice, SuperTrust and SuperTrust Plus schemes — the MPF Conservative Fund, Global Bond Fund and Hang Seng Index Tracking Fund — from 1.25%–1.50% to 0.79%–0.99%, up to 40% off, effective 1 March.

What did the cut mean for members?

The overall fund expense ratio was expected to fall from 1.85% to about 1.67%; over decades of compounding, every 0.1 point of fees matters enormously.

What should members weigh when choosing?
