How Do You Know Your Employer Is Paying Your MPF?

What are employers legally required to do?

A 2011 MPFA column reminded: employers must enrol new hires in MPF within 60 calendar days of employment; part-timers working under 18 hours a week are NOT exempt — 60 continuous days means both sides contribute. Industry schemes have a 10-day rule.

How can you verify contributions?

Trustees mail acceptance and membership certificates to your registered address within 30 days of receiving the form. Employers must pay by the 10th of each month and give you a contribution record within 7 working days; you can also check amounts and latest periods via the trustee’s website, phone system or hotline. Example: September 2010’s deadline fell on Sunday 10 October, so payment by Monday the 11th counted as on time.
