Hong Kong’s Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) delivered a +5.67% return in the first half of 2026, marking the sixth-best first-half performance since the scheme’s inception in December 2000, according to MPF Ratings.
Despite a -1.45% loss in June, MPF returned +7.81% in Q2 2026 — the best Q2 result since 2020 — driving the strong H1 performance.
Asian equities suffered a -1.17% loss in June but remained the best-performing asset class for MPF in both Q2 and H1, returning +27.17% and +27.93% respectively (per MPF Ratings Index – Equity Fund (Asia)), representing the second-best quarterly result on record and the best H1 result ever.
