E Fund MPF ETFs Debut on HKEX Today with Short Selling Approval

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has announced that E Fund (Hong Kong) FTSE MPF China A-Share ETF (Stock Code: 03509) and E Fund (Hong Kong) FTSE MPF Hong Kong Stock ETF (Stock Code: 03579) have been authorized by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) as collective investment schemes and commenced trading on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.

Two MPF ETFs Officially Listed

The two newly listed ETFs track the FTSE MPF China A-Share Index and the FTSE MPF Hong Kong Stock Index respectively, offering MPF scheme members more transparent and cost-effective investment options. Both ETFs have also been approved for inclusion in the list of designated securities eligible for short selling, which is expected to enhance market liquidity and price discovery efficiency.

eMPF Platform Expands Support

The eMPF platform continues to expand its service coverage. From 24 June to 18 September 2026, registration and enquiry stations will be set up at 12 MTR stations to provide registration support and enquiry services for scheme members. Additionally, eMPF Service Centres have extended weekend service hours from 9 May to 31 July 2026 to enhance user experience. All MPF schemes have now fully joined the eMPF platform.

MPF Contribution Income Level Review Update

Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun recently stated in response to a LegCo question that the MPFA, when conducting the review of minimum and maximum relevant income levels and preparing its report and recommendations, will consider relevant employment income data in accordance with the law, along with other factors such as social and economic conditions and the impact on employees and self-employed persons including financial burden. The Government will comprehensively and carefully examine the MPFA’s report before making a decision. Sun also noted that the Government has no plans to extend the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund coverage to include employers’ MPF contributions.
