Contribution Floors and Caps Both Rise: HK$6,500–$25,000

How far do the thresholds move?

The government proposes lifting minimum relevant income from HK$5,000 to HK$6,500 (this November) and the maximum from HK$20,000 to HK$25,000 (June 2012); the floor rise exempts 180,900 from contributing, the cap rise makes 514,500 pay more. The cap never moved since 2000; reviews said HK$30,000.

Whatever you pay, pick funds wisely

Thresholds change, amounts change, but fund-picking logic doesn’t: low fees, right risk. Review your mix before the change so extra contributions land in the cheapest funds.
