The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (December 10) successfully pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $75,000 on behalf of 10 employees who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At the Tribunals hearing today, the defendants, Major Moments Limited and First Basic (HK) Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $49,764.92 and $25,319.54 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the defendants to pay $225 and $166 respectively as the costs of the claim.
