What did Commercial Radio report on 4 January 2011?

MPF returned 7.15% for 2010 — below 2009’s 25% gain. Equity funds led again at 10.22%, mixed funds earned 7.6%, money-market funds trailed at just 0.03%. By market, Korea equities topped at over 17%; US dollar money-market funds were worst at –0.75%. December alone returned 2.7%, down 0.86 points from November, with equity funds best at 4.12%.

What’s the takeaway?

Equity funds win long-term but swing hard; money-market funds earn near-zero — no safe haven there.

What can workers do?

Match the mix to your age and risk — don’t sit all in money-market funds; see MPF fund comparison.
