What is a preserved account? Your contribution account becomes one when you change jobs

2011-08-08
Marcus Tang

Every job change turns your contribution account into a preserved account, holding MPF contributions from your previous employment or self-employment. You can only withdraw at 65 or in special circumstances; the preserved account stays invested under your chosen fund manager.

Why consolidate preserved accounts?

Multiple preserved accounts are hard to manage: different trustees, different fees, different online logins. Consolidating MPF accounts brings one provider for everything, one set of login credentials, and one consolidated annual statement showing all preserved benefits at a glance.

For preserved accounts and consolidation, visit the MPF education hub; to compare trustee fees, see MPF fund comparison.
