Semi-portability lets you consolidate the employee-contribution portion with one MPF provider — but not the employer portion. What if you’ve had many jobs and many ex-employers? Answer: personal accounts can all be merged.
Merge them into one. Past accounts from jobs you’ve left have become personal accounts; however many there are, they can all be consolidated — employer plus employee portions together, exactly what the government urges members to do.
Leave it for now. Your active account can’t move until semi-portability takes effect. After merging the personal accounts, you have a single personal account; when you change jobs later, just notify the provider to merge the new account in — no more juggling multiple accounts.
