What did the MPFA’s Q1 2011 report card show?

A May 2011 HKET report: ten-year annualised returns had climbed to 5.4%, with average pots at HK$150,529 — up HK$5,627 from HK$144,902 at end-2010, nearing the budget’s HK$6,000 handout. Total net assets hit HK$378.28 billion at March 2011; 2.513 million members averaged over HK$150,000 each, up 3.88% in the quarter.

Which funds performed best?

Over the year, mixed-asset funds rose 9.7% and equity funds 12.7%, beating 4.4% inflation; long-term, equities led at 5.7% annualised, mixed assets 4.9%; defensive funds lagged inflation, with money-market funds the losers at –0.5%. Voluntary contributions hit a record HK$1.449 billion in the quarter.
