MPF Offset Arrangement Subsidy Scheme — Latest Update

The Legislative Council’s Panel on Manpower discussed the progress of the MPF Offset Arrangement Subsidy Scheme on May 18. Deputy Secretary for Labour (Labour Administration), Ho Kam-piu, disclosed the latest figures:

• Total employer applications: 23,444
• Approved: 17,873
• Rejected: 756
• Total subsidy disbursed: HK$56.39 million

Employee Applications

The scheme received 15 employee applications. Two were approved with approximately HK$12,000 in total equity difference subsidies disbursed. Six applications were reviewed with no reduction found in total equity after offset abolition, while seven remain under processing.

LegCo Discussion Highlights

Lawmaker Li Ka-kui raised concerns about rejection reasons and employee awareness. Panel Vice-chairman Lam Chun-sing noted that equity differences for employees are rare, urging authorities to proactively notify affected workers.

Ho stated that the Labour Department’s website provides assessment tools and calculators to help employers and employees verify their entitlements.
