Hong Kong MPFs posted a marginal gain of 0.18% in July, ending two months of losses, according to Lipper — after declines of 1.54% in June and 0.67% in May. Equity MPFs, however, suffered losses for a third straight month, falling 0.24%.
Europe equity posted the biggest drop among equity MPFs, losing 4.12% in July; pharma & health sector funds fell 3.56%. The biggest winner was Japan equity, up 2.71%; Asia-Pacific ex-Japan and Greater China equities gained 1.43% and 1.03% respectively, with Hong Kong equity up 0.15%.
Bond MPFs rose 1.22% in July — their eighth consecutive monthly gain — widening from 0.06% in June and 0.26% in May. Mixed-asset MPFs also turned around, gaining 0.45% in July. The weak-equities, strong-bonds pattern held firm.
