To enforce MPF employer obligations in Hong Kong, the MPFA has launched an online list of employers who default on MPF contributions, naming and shaming defaulters for workers to check.
Public naming as deterrence. Defaulting employers previously faced only prosecution and fines; now their company names go online — a real reputational hit. Jobseekers can check before accepting offers; affected employees can report and claim through the MPFA.
Fines, jail — and now the blacklist. Employers in arrears must repay contributions plus surcharges, face prosecution and fines, and in serious cases imprisonment. The public list adds another layer of deterrence. The MPFA urges employers to pay on time and not test the law.
Workers should watch whether employers pay on time; for MPF information visit MPF fund comparison.
