What did the government propose for the income thresholds in 2011?

In 2011, the government planned to raise the MPF contribution income floor from HK$5,000 to HK$6,500 and the ceiling from HK$20,000 to HK$25,000, alongside the minimum wage. The higher floor spared low earners from pay cuts; the higher ceiling meant up to HK$250 more a month from each side.

When would it take effect?

The government aimed to table the subsidiary legislation in the Legislative Council in June 2011 for speedy implementation.
