The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said the HK$6,000 Scheme saw an enthusiastic first day of registration: banks received about 303,000 forms, post offices about 19,000, and 5,900 people registered via banks’ online platforms — over 320,000 in total.
Eligible people registering through banks will receive the money directly into their designated bank accounts about 10 weeks after registration; those registering via Hongkong Post will be notified by mail to collect a cheque about 12 weeks after registration. The government reminded the public to complete forms as instructed to avoid delays.
Registration is available through banks, Hongkong Post, or banks’ online banking platforms. Day-one figures show most people chose banks, with online registration gaining ground.
