Hong Kong’s combined fund management business reached HK$10.091 trillion last year, up 18.6% on 2009, the Securities and Futures Commission said today in its annual Fund Management Activities Survey — a sign of returning investor confidence in global financial markets and continuing capital inflows into Asia-Pacific.
Overseas investors contributed HK$6.592 trillion — 66%. The survey found Hong Kong remains a preferred location for international investment; overseas investors contributed HK$6.592 trillion (66%) of fund management business, excluding real estate investment trusts. Acting CEO Alexa Lam said: “Hong Kong will strive to fortify its position as an international asset-management centre and an offshore renminbi centre. The commission will continue to work with all to capitalise on our robust regulatory framework and local asset-management expertise to attract international investors to select Hong Kong as an investment platform.”
