Convoy survey: employers’ voluntary MPF top-ups rise to 30% in talent war

A Convoy survey finds more employers offering above-statutory MPF contributions: the share making MPF voluntary contributions has risen to 30%, as bosses pull new levers in the war for talent.

What did the survey find?

30% of employers top up. About three in ten surveyed employers make extra voluntary MPF contributions for staff, up from before. The main driver is attracting and retaining talent — in tight labour markets, a good retirement package can be the clincher.

How do workers benefit?

A bigger retirement pot. Employer top-ups directly boost accrued benefits, compounding over the long run into a meaningfully larger account at retirement. Jobseekers should ask about MPF arrangements — beyond the statutory 5%, is there anything extra?
