The downward adjustment of mandatory provident fund’s management fees is the trend of the industry, said Roger Lau, Schroder Investment Management (Hong Kong) institutional business director, yesterday in the face of the soon- to-be launched default investment strategy (DIS).
Lau said he is a certain that there will be funds flowing from mixed-asset schemes into the DIS but he believes there is still major differences between what the existing MPF schemes and the DIS can provide.
Starting in April, funds in MPF accounts without investment instructions will be invested automatically in accordance with the DIS, which will be composed of two funds where money will be shifted into lower-risk asset classes.
